Electrical foreman (CCQ) (Civil engineering)

Under the supervision of the superintendent or project manager, the CCQ electrical foreman coordinates, supervises and executes electrical work related to civil engineering projects. He/she ensures that work proceeds smoothly on site, and that plans and specifications, quality standards, schedules and health and safety rules are respected.

The work is mainly related to :

  • installation and modification of traffic lights;
  • outdoor and urban lighting;
  • municipal electrical systems;
  • charging stations for electric vehicles;
  • underground conduits and electrical infrastructures.
Responsibilities. What you will need to do.

  • Plan, organize and coordinate daily site activities;
  • Supervise QCC teams, subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Allocate tasks according to priorities and progress;
  • Ensure optimum productivity of teams and equipment;
  • Actively participate in work when required;
  • Supervise the installation of traffic lights, control cabinets and detection systems;
  • Coordinate street lighting, lampposts and site lighting;
  • Supervise the installation of electric charging stations;
  • Ensure compliance of electrical connections and underground infrastructures;
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications and electrical diagrams;
  • Enforce OHS rules and safe work practices;
  • Take safety breaks and identify risks on site;
  • Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn;
  • Maintain a clean, safe worksite that complies with current standards;
  • Coordinate with other trades, municipalities and utilities;
  • Communicate progress to project manager and superintendent;
  • Quickly identify problems and propose solutions;
  • Ensure compliance with work schedules and quality.

The requirements. What you need.

  • Valid CCQ card – Electrician;
  • Experience as a foreman in civil engineering or electrical infrastructure;
  • Experience in traffic lights, outdoor lighting or charging stations (major asset);
  • Good reading of plans and specifications;
  • Knowledge of electrical and municipal standards;
  • Valid driving license;
  • Leadership, autonomy and organizational skills.
