Excavator Operator

The excavator operator will be responsible for operating all types of excavators, backhoes, dragline or clamshell cranes, robotic arm excavators, and similar excavation equipment mounted on wheels or tracks, whether fixed or mobile. The operator must perform all excavator-related duties in a safe manner.

Responsibilities. What you will need to do.

  • Operate machinery on various job sites for different excavation projects;
  • Operate a CCQ-certified excavator safely and in compliance with quality and health & safety standards;
  • Maintain visual contact with site personnel and identify potential hazards;
  • Perform excavation work;
  • Perform daily equipment inspections;
  • Ensure equipment is kept clean;
  • Operate equipment as directed by the foreman;
  • Perform all manual tasks related to the position as required.

The requirements. What you need.

  • Hold a vocational diploma (DEP) in construction equipment operation;
  • Hold a valid CCQ certification;
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
  • Have experience working in trenching operations;
  • Be willing to travel within the province as required for certain projects;
  • Ability to follow instructions;
  • Self-motivated and resourceful;
  • Punctual and responsible;
  • Good manual dexterity and physical coordination;
  • Versatile and adaptable;
